How to optimize a MySQL database using phpMyAdmin?

Optimizing databases can be important for many reasons, most importantly to speed up the rate in which your database displays results. By optimizing the databases, you can dramatically affect how fast your website loads. Typically, optimization will only produce noticeable results if you have a large database. If your database has tables with over 10,000 rows or is over 500MB in size, it may be beneficial to optimize it. Databases smaller in size my not produce any noticeable results from optimization.

Step 1: Login to cPanel

Step 2: Once you’re logged in, locate the "Databases" section of cPanel. Within, there is an icon for "phpMyAdmin". Click on the “phpMyAdmin" icon.

Step 3. In “phpMyAdmin” screen select the database you would like to check and repair using the left menu.

Step 4. You will see a listing of your tables. Click "Check All" or use the check box to select specific tables and then from the drop down labelled “With Selected” choose "Optimize Table". The optimization will be performed automatically and a new page will open that shows the result of the operation.
